START Primary Schools 'Meet the Scientist' - Dr Eugene Farrell (Geographer)
What causes coastal erosion?

Eugene is a geographer who works on beaches and dunes all around the world. He uses equipment like drones, satellites, quads and boats to make maps of coastal erosion and flooding. In his presentation Eugene will show you examples of the damage that occurs when large storms hit our coast and examples of community projects that people are doing to help protect our coast.

You can ask Eugene any questions you have about what he does in his job! He'll only be too happy to explain : ) Here are some optional questions for you to try and answer before the webinar:
- Is it good or bad to live beside the coast?
- What was the biggest storm ever in Ireland?
- Why are sand dunes important?
